As you may have noticed, there is complete chaos in the energy market place: energy prices are through the roof, shortages at fuel stations and there’s a growing realisation that depending on imported natural resources isn’t good for the economy, communities or the environment…

Feeling ripped off by energy companies is a common experience. Over several years, people across the UK got really fed up of hearing news that wholesale energy prices were sometimes going down as well as up, while home energy bills were only ever heading in one direction!

Ethical consumers have a lot to keep up with! Labels serve as important short-cuts so we know what we’re buying. We know all about the importance of organic certification marks. We look for the Fairtrade Foundation symbol on our chocolate bars and feel confident about what that means.

Our 1MW solar farm at Killan Fach farm in Dunvant now has a fully operational battery, releasing green energy from locally-harvested sunshine into the grid when it’s most needed. Sales of green electricity from the farm will help to grow a pot of funds for Gower Regeneration to use for projects that benefit the local community.

At the time of issue, MSC Meline which is carrying the 228kW Tesla battery for our local storage and supply project from the Tesla Giga Factory near San Francisco was cruising past Huntingdon Beach!

£610k of EU funding for the community energy project, Gower Power Solar Storage was announced today by Wales’ incoming First Minister Mark Drakeford at an event in Cardiff celebrating the impact of EU funds in Wales.
